About the Project

The academic project undertaken by Bad Boy Solutions aimed to revolutionize scoliosis detection by harnessing the power of Kinect for Windows technology.

Challenges

The project encountered several challenges in its pursuit of creating a comprehensive scoliosis assessment system:

• Data Acquisition: Ensuring accurate and complete scanning of the patient’s back using Kinect technology presented challenges in terms of sensor calibration and data processing.
• Scoliosis Assessment: Developing precise algorithms to analyze key points and determine scoliosis susceptibility demanded thorough validation and testing to ensure reliability and accuracy.

Solution

To address these challenges, Bad Boy Solutions devised a systematic approach to scoliosis assessment using Kinect technology:

• Scan Patient’s Back: Utilizing the Microsoft Kinect sensor, the system scanned the patient’s back, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the entire region of interest.
• Model Generation: Sophisticated algorithms processed the scanned data to generate a high-fidelity 3D model of the patient’s back, ensuring integrity and completeness.
• Key Point Detection: The system accurately identified key anatomical points on the patient’s back, leveraging advanced image processing techniques to enhance accuracy and reliability.
• Positional Analysis: Calculations based on the positions of key points enabled precise determination of spine alignment and curvature, facilitating accurate scoliosis assessment.
